Abstract
Every difficult interaction is an origin story. Has a hero and a Villian.
In this engaging and humorous keynote, Robin Landals-Hill explores how people unintentionally become the villain in someone else’s story—not through one dramatic moment, but through small shifts in communication, frustration, and humanity. Through personal stories of adversity, customer service examples, leadership experiences, and relatable moments of modern communication chaos, participants will examine how service exists in every interaction: leadership, education, parenting, business, teamwork, and even online communication.
Using examples ranging from “Give Them the Pickle” customer service philosophy to online comment wars, difficult workplace conversations, and moments where small acts of kindness changed the trajectory of someone’s life, this presentation reframes customer service as human service. Participants will learn how to hold boundaries without becoming reactive, how to communicate with intention rather than emotion, and how small moments of dignity and respect create lasting ripple effects.
At its core, this keynote challenges participants to ask:“What story do I want people to tell about this interaction?”
Blending humor, reflection, practical tools, and emotional insight, this session leaves audiences with a renewed understanding that every interaction has the power to create either a hero story or a villain story.
